I am an Assistant Professor at the David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science at University of Waterloo. I study new techniques for motivating participation and combining human and machine intelligence to tackle complex tasks in crowdsourcing systems, and how these systems can address problems in science and medicine. I am part of the Human Computer Interaction Lab. My work is funded by NSERC Discovery Grant as well as the NSERC-CIHR Collaborative Health Research Project (CHRP) program.

Previously, I was a CRCS postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University. I graduated with a Ph.D. in Machine Learning from Carnegie Mellon University in 2012. Here is my (always slightly out of date) curriculum vitae and list of publications.
